Centrify Updates Channel Program

Centrify, a provider of privileged access management (PAM) tools, has revamped its three-tier channel program at a time when a lot more organizations are looking to better secure their IT environments.

The company has added deal registration for all opportunities in addition to providing incumbent resellers with the first right to license renewal opportunities and best pricing. Centrify is also bringing more structure to its pricing and discounts in addition to adding more distributors.

The primary goal is to drive deeper relationships with global systems integrators (GSIs), says Chris Peterson, vice president of worldwide channels and alliances at Centrify.

“We want to be part of their cybersecurity ecosystem,” says Peterson.

Given the success cybercriminals have enjoyed stealing credentials, many organizations are starting to make some long-overdue investments in PAM tools that provide more granular control over who is granted, for example, administrator access to IT infrastructure and applications. All too often, the default setting for IT infrastructure and applications creates user profiles that have administrative rights to every setting. Once cybercriminals compromise access to a password they can gain unfettered access to the entire IT environment.

It’s not clear to what degree organizations will be expanding their investments in cybersecurity beyond anti-virus software, firewalls and virtual private networks (VPNs). However, a survey of more than 270 cybersecurity professionals published by the host of the Black Hat Conference finds 80 percent of respondents said they believe the pandemic will lead to significant changes in cybersecurity operations.

Nearly 95 percent of security professionals also said they believe the COVID-19 crisis increases the threat to enterprise systems and data, with 24 percent saying that increased threat is both critical and imminent.

The real issue, of course, will be convincing the owners of the businesses that employ those cybersecurity professionals to allocate funds to address those concerns.
