LogicMonitor Names Channel Chief

LogicMonitor, a provider of monitoring services for applications and IT infrastructure, has appointed Sanjay Gupta to be its global vice president for channels and alliances.

The goal is to now build a more robust global channel that includes resellers alongside the managed service providers (MSPs) that currently account for about 40 to 50% of the revenues LogicMonitor generates as a software-as-a-service (SaaS) provider of IT monitoring tools, says Gupta.

Formerly with BMC Software, Gupta says he was attracted to LogicMonitor because it presents an opportunity to design a channel program basically from scratch versus simply retooling an existing program.

“We’re not trying to re-engineer the business or fine-tuning an existing program,” says Gupta.

If so, check out Channel Mechanics, they offer a complete line of SaaS solutions to manage all aspects of your channel. Demos, NFRS, MDF, Promotions, Partner Leveling… they have over 20 specific solutions to help you get the most out of your partner ecosystem.

As IT becomes more complex in the cloud era, Gupta says demand for monitoring tools continues to increase. With the rise of cloud-native technologies based on containers and microservices, the level of complexity IT organizations face today is only going to increase as applications continue to be deployed both in the cloud and in on-premises IT environments, adds Gupta.

The challenge many organizations face today is the monitoring tools they rely on today optimized only for legacy monolithic applications running in on-premises environments. By shifting to a SaaS platform, it becomes easier for IT organizations to embrace new types of applications and platforms, notes Gupta.

SaaS platform providers are also generally in a better position to apply machine learning algorithms to the massive amounts of data they collect as part of a larger AIOps initiative, says Gupta.

Of course, LogicMonitor is not the only provider of monitoring tools and services that has begun to increase their focus on the channel. As monitoring moves from being a capability that was once largely applied to the most mission-critical applications to a capability that is broadly required in the age of the cloud, the opportunity for partners to provide monitoring services is only going to continues to exponentially increase.
