EfficientIP Enhances Channel Program

EfficientIP, a provider of automation and security tools for Domain Name System (DNS) installations, has enhanced its channel program, while at the same time naming John Ricciardi to be its channel development director.

Enhancements made to the single-tier EfficientIP channel program include a simplified onboarding process as well as additional incentives and sales enablement tools, says Ricciardi.

Other new elements of the program include access to 24×7 support and hardware replacements when necessary, adds Ricciardi.

At a time when appreciation for the role DNS can potentially play in making organizations more secure, Ricciardi says EfficientIP is looking to significantly expand its bases of partners.

“We’re definitely aggressively looking for new partners,” says Ricciardi.

EfficientIP already has technology alliance programs in place with Cisco, VMware, Microsoft, RedHat, and ServiceNow that the company is hoping to further extend by building relationships with partners participating in the channel programs of those vendors, adds Ricciardi.

Many of those partners have a significant opportunity to build a managed services around DNS and associated networking technologies that EfficientIP provides in the form of a set of appliances, notes Ricciardi.

DNS servers are on the front line of cybersecurity these days because cybercriminals launch distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks as part of an extortion scheme. Once a Web site is essentially rendered inoperable by all the DNS queries being sent in its direction, cybercriminals will try to extort payments to stop of the attacks. Rather than make those payments, however, more organizations becoming more adroit at redirecting directing Web site traffic to another DNS instance by working closely with IT services providers.

Cybercriminals also attempt to “spoof” legitimate Web sites in a way that redirects traffic by essentially poisoning the cache on DNS server, which creates a need to better secure instances of DNS.

Longer term, DNS is also emerging a central location through which machine learning algorithms might be applied to identify not just the source of illegitimate DNS queries, but also Web sites where malware may be hidden.

While the critical role DNS plays in networking and cybersecurity is often overlooked, the fact that DNS is so ubiquitously deployed creates one of those few IT services opportunities that to one degree or another almost every organization needs.
