IT Glue Extends Integration with ConnectWise and Autotask

IT Glue this week announced it had extended the level of integration it provides between its documentation system and professional services automation (PSA) platforms from ConnectWise and Autotask, a unit of Datto.

That moves comes after it was revealed late last year that Kaseya, a provider of remote monitoring and management (RMM) platform that includes PSA functionality, had acquired IT Glue some three years prior.

The decision to extend the reach of IT Glue to other PSA platforms serves to address a solution provider requirement, while also reaffirming a commitment IT Glue has made to remain neutral as far as other PSA platforms are concerned, says Luis Giraldo, vice president of product for IT Glue.

“We’re not going to close down the platform,” says Giraldo. “We want to be Switzerland.”

In general, Giraldo notes there tends to be a high correlation between solution providers that have adopted a PSA platform and implemented a documentation management system, says Giraldo.
Solution providers that implement both tend to derive a lot of value from having a more structured approach to documenting all the assets that make an IT environment as they rely on a PSA platform to manage their workforce. The goal is to provide as much bi-direction synchronization between the IT Glue documentation system and PSA platforms as possible.

The biggest challenge solution providers face when implementing a documentation system is finding the time to reformat all the unstructured data concerning IT assets that reside in various documents and spreadsheets, says Giraldo. Thus far, IT Glue claims that more 6,000 solution providers around the globe have adopted its documentation platform.

Giraldo acknowledges a certain amount of fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD) is being spread now that it’s widely known that IT Glue is an arm of Kaseya. But as IT Glue continues to pour resources into integration that level of market noise should eventually subside.
