INFINIDAT Names North America Channel Chief

The paradox with enterprise storage is that more of it is being consumed than ever. But as the price per gigabyte (GB) that organizations are willing to pay continues to drop, many vendors and solution providers are finding margins squeezed.

Mitch Diodato

To address that challenge INFINIDAT developed an entirely new approach to storing data using a combination of DRAM, Flash memory and hard disk drives that are optimized using machine learning algorithms. Now INFINIDAT has named Mitch Diodato to be the new head of channel sales for North America. Diodato comes to INFINIDAT from Arrow Enterprise Computing Solutions (Arrow ECS), where among other duties he managed the relationship between Arrow and INFINIDAT.

The move to hire Diodato comes on the heels of naming Hanan Altif to be the new EMEA Channel Director. Altif previously worked at VMware as a regional channel manager.

The INFINIDAT approach to storage results in the end customer being able to employ a broad mix of storage technologies to more efficiently store data at half the cost of an all-Flash array, say Diodato. The challenge rival storage vendors are having is that it costs them a lot more to meet the performance and cost per GB requirements of end customers than it does INFINIDAT, says Diodato.

Do you have the resources you need to run and manage your channel partners?

If not look no further than Gorilla Onboard.  For over 25 years they have been providing the services and talent the drives the channel. Partner recruitment services, Channel Account Managers, and Partner Marketing Management are just a few of the services they provide.

“Our sweet spot would be solutions that require access to petabytes of storage,” says Diodato.

INFINDAT also recently announced it has partnered with Commvault to add a complementary set of data protection software and hardware to its portfolio.

Today INFINIDAT today has over 150 partners and now will also be able to tap into partners that participate in the Commvault program. The goal is not so much to increase the number of partners as much as it is to plug key gaps in areas such as the west coast, says Diodata.

Late last year INFINIDAT raised another $95 million to bring its valuation of over $1.6 billion. Obviously, a large portion of that funding is finding its way into funding channel operations. INFINIDAT doesn’t release financials as a private company, but it does claim to have over 500 employees in addition to over 200 enterprise customers that collectively now consume of two exabytes of storage using the company’s platforms.

Data storage has always been good for the channel, even at a time when more data is being stored on public cloud services. The challenge now is figuring what mix of storage technologies makes the most sense to profitably provide end customers that are more particular about their requirements than ever.
