Kaseya Extends Data Protection Services Reach

Kaseya today extended the data protection capabilities it makes available to managed service providers (MSPs) to include both disaster recovery (DR) as well as traditional backup and recovery.

Kaseya Unified Backup (KUB) now includes a service based on DR software developed by Unitrends. The goal is to give MSPs the ability to via a central console manage multiple data protection services based on Unitrends as well as the backup and recovery software Kaseya resells from Acronis, says Kaseya CEO Fred Voccola.

Capabilities built into KUB include that ability to not only store data in the cloud, but also leverage an onsite appliance for fast local restore. That approach enables clients can be back up and running in under an hour, claims Kaseya.

MSPs can also take advantage of built-in artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities developed by Unitrends to identify potential recovery issues before they occur, notes Voccola.

Do you have the resources you need to run and manage your channel partners?

If not look no further than Gorilla Onboard.  For over 25 years they have been providing the services and talent the drives the channel. Partner recruitment services, Channel Account Managers, and Partner Marketing Management are just a few of the services they provide.

Voccola notes that how efficient MSPs are in terms of being able to leverage technicians to perform multiple tasks directly equates to their profitability. By coordinating a data protection service via the remote management and monitoring (RMM) capabilities embedded in the Kaseya platform, the total cost of managing those services drops, says Voccola.

“Time is still money for managed service providers,” says Voccola “MSPs need to be automating all over the place.”

Thanks to ransomware attacks that encrypt data there’s more focus than ever on disaster recovery. But making sure pristine copies of critical data are always available is often beyond the capabilities of small-to-medium businesses. More often than anyone cares to admit, data winds up being corrupted. MSPs that regularly test to make sure data is accessible are in high demand, which is why data protection services continue to be a growing segment of the overall market for MSPs.

The challenge now is finding a way to affordably deliver data protection services profitably at a time when price competition across the entire category this has never been fiercer.
