Panzura this week announced it will make an instance of its global file system that has been optimized for managed service providers (MSPs) is now available.
The Global File System-as-a-Service (GFSaaS) for MSPs from Panzura provides access to network-attached storage (NAS) that is managed on their behalf by Panzura, says Glen Shok, vice president of strategic alliance for Panzura.
GFSaaS was co-developed by Pazura and CCL, an MSP based in New Zealand. The goal is to provide MSPs with a SaaS-based data management platform for sharing and managing files that is always available, notes Shok.
That service is augmented by Panzura Data Services, which provides data analytics, monitoring, auditing, billing and management of unstructured data within the file system via a multi-tenant cloud service.
Rather than trying to remotely manage disparate legacy NAS platforms, Shok says MSPs can now employ a global file system managed via the cloud to unify a wide range of data management tasks on behalf of their customers. That approach eliminates the need to acquire and manage everything from copy data management and data protection platforms to extract, transform and load (ETL) tools because data is always accessible via a global file system, notes Shok. “There’s no need for backups,” he says.
That approach also provides MSPs with control over how data is managed in a way that makes them and their clients less dependent on any single cloud service provider, notes Shok.
Arguably, the most important asset any organization has is its data. The more involved MSPs are in managing that data the more valuable they are to their customer. In fact, the success of any digital business transformation initiative comes down to the quality of the data employed. Most organizations, however, are quickly discovering that many of their digital transformation initiatives are being held up because while they can store a lot of data they never really found a way to effectively manage it.
