Kaseya Expands Scope of Services for MSPs

Kaseya this week extended its platform for managing IT services by acquiring Graphus, a provider of a service for combatting phishing attacks in addition to tightening workflows and enhancing the capabilities of various modules of the Kaseya IT Complete platform.

Announced at the company’s online Connect IT 2020 conference, the acquisition of Graphus extends an ongoing effort to strengthen the security and compliance services that managed service providers (MSPs) can provide via the platform, says Kaseya CEO Fred Voccola.

While anti-phishing tools are widely embedded in many cloud services, the Graphus service is a more robust alternative that will enable MSPs to better thwart one of the primary vector cybercriminals employ to compromise credentials, notes Voccola.

Enhancements to the existing Kaseya portfolio include the ability to copy and paste files and directories during remote control sessions via a simple drag-and-drop action. MSPs that rely on ID Agent can now directly access Single Sign-On (SSO) Launch Pad and Passwords via a browser extension that eliminates the need to first access the Passly web interface.

MSPs can also employ enhancements to ID Agent Dark Web ID to pull the number of employees, business type, estimated revenue to improve customer prospecting. The Kaseya Compliance Manager also now supports the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) compliance, a mandatory certification for businesses that bid on Department of Defense contracts.

Finally, MSPs can now update fleets of Unitrends appliances through the Unitrends MSP portal while the latest update from its Spanning arm allows customers to backup and recover OneNote data from Microsoft Office 365.

Ultimately, MSPs should judge the platform they rely on by how much it enables them to maximize technician efficiency, says Voccola.

“Technical efficiency is the Holy Grail for MSPs,” says Voccola.

MSPs should also pay close attention to how much they have to pay for software licenses to drive their services, adds Voccola. The IT Central platform is 20 to 30% less expensive than attempting to stitch together multiple offerings from multiple vendors, claims Voccola. Those cost savings enable MSPs to more aggressively discount services at a time when end customers are looking to cut costs to cope with the economic downturn brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, notes Voccola.

While demand for manages services in some vertical industries has dried up, there are more organizations than ever looking to rely on MSPs at a time when many companies are not looking to increase the size of their internal IT teams. The challenge MSPs face is putting together the right mix of services to initially attract a new customer that over time will only become more valuably as the rate at which they consume IT services steadily increases.
