CloudJumper has named Amie Ray to be its enterprise sales channel manager as part of an effort to increase adoption of its Cloud Workspace Management Suite (CWMS) for managing virtual desktops.
Previously, CloudJumper focused its channel efforts solely on enabling managed service providers (MSPs). Now the company is expanding that effort to recruit resellers that will provide internal IT organizations with access to a platform for managing WVD deployments, says Ray.
CloudJumper plans to offer CWMS to channel partners that have existing relationships with enterprise customers via its distribution partners, says Ray. Margins for partners depending on the distributor and size of deal may range as high 30%, adds Ray. She joins CloudJumper after having held channel and sales positions as PrinterLogic, Lenovo and Cisco.
With the availability of the Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) platform from Microsoft via its Azure platform, CloudJumper is betting that interest in virtual desktops among enterprise customers will spike in 2020, especially as many of them continue to navigate the challenges associated with transitioning from Windows 7 to Windows 10.
“WVD is going to be huge,” says Ray.
It’s unclear to what degree enterprise IT organizations will finally embrace virtual desktops. Various flavors of desktop virtualization and virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) have been available for years. However, now that Microsoft, along with rivals such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), is offering virtual desktops as a service, interest in alternatives to running Windows on a local machine may finally begin to peak as IT organizations decide to focus on more complex tasks. As IT becomes more complex, many IT organizations will simply not have enough staff to manually maintain and support instances of Windows on hundreds of desktops and laptops.
Regardless of whether IT organizations opt to dot themselves or rely on an MSP partner, the one thing that is for certain is the management of desktops is about to become a lot more automated.
