Risk Based Security today launched its first channel program as part of an effort to increase the number of end customers willing to pay to access a database that tracks vulnerabilities and a threat intelligence service that evaluates the cybersecurity posture of any organization.
While there are plenty of vulnerability databases that organizations can access for free, the VulnDB curated by Risk Based Systems tracks 33% more vulnerabilities, says Eric Paxton, director of business operations for Risk Based Security.
Cyber Risk Analytics (CRA), meanwhile, tracks organizations that have had a data breach or leaked credentials. As part of that service, Risk Based Security also provides a PreBreach vendor risk rating based on the metrics it tracks.
Partners don’t necessarily need to have a lot of cybersecurity expertise to resell either offering, but Paxton says they do need to have relationships with organizations that put a premium on cybersecurity.
“We’re looking for partners that have relationships with sophisticated security organizations, says Paxton.
The channel program Risk Based Security has two tiers. The basic level provides access to marketing materials, sales enablement tools and a deal registration portal through which they can gain access to services at a discounted price. Premium partners gain access to co-branded marketing materials and additional incentives. Risk Based Security is also looking to partners with managed service providers (MSPs) looking to leverage its data to enhance the security of their services, adds Paxton.
Those customers can access the data services provided by Risk Based Security either via a software-as-a-service (SaaS)-based portal or an application programming interface (API).
Given the chronic shortage of cybersecurity expertise many organizations are looking for all the help they can get. The challenge and opportunity for channel partners will be to figure out a way to add value by not just reselling products, but also the information services that provide the actionable intelligence on which those products depend.
