Ingram Micro today announced it had formed an Integrated Solutions team focused on reducing the time and effort required by channel partners to build complex custom solutions using IT components purchased through the distributor.
Based in part on an disbanded Component Business Unit, the goal is to provide channel partners and service providers that decide to build their own solutions versus reselling commercial systems with access to not just components, but also engineering and integration services provided by Ingram Micro. Those services are spanning everything from proof of concept through testing, delivery, deployment and support services. The Integrated Solution team now operates within the construct of the Ingram Advanced Solutions Division.
As part of that effort, the Integrated Solutions unit will debut a go-to-market partner program and engagement model that replaces the Systems ArchiTECHs community that Ingram previously employed to help channel partners identify market opportunities.
The Integrated Solution team will mainly focus on service providers and channel partners that build high-performance computing solutions as an OEM, says, Ryan Grant, vice president for Ingram Micro’s Integrated Solutions team.
In general, Grant says Ingram Micro is seeing more channel partners invest in custom infrastructure to deliver an application or deliver a service that eliminates the need to depend on commercial infrastructure. That doesn’t mean channel partners are moving away from reselling commercial IT infrastructure. But it does mean there are more partners comfortable with relying on their own internal engineering experience to deliver advanced systems that go well beyond building a traditional white box server.
“We see the entire spectrum,” says Grant.
To help reduce the cost of building those services Ingram also announced today that a complementary custom Integration Center is now open. Located at Ingram Micro’s Mira Loma, Calif., warehouse location, the new center offers system design, compatibility, and other engineering services to Ingram partners.
Some partners may still prefer to build every solution from the ground up themselves. But given the increased complexity associated with delivering custom solutions in the age of the cloud, Ingram Micro is betting more channel partners going forward will be relying on distributors to create more comprehensive solutions consisting of advanced technologies and complementary cloud services in collaboration with Ingram Micro.
The Ingram Integrated Solutions team will make its formal debut to those partners at the Ingram Micro ONE 2018 conference next week in Washington, D.C.
