HYCU Adds Global Channel Program

HYCU, a provider of data protection software optimized for hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) platforms from Nutanix, this week announced a two-tier global partner program.

Intended to extend the reach of HYCU channel program beyond the U.S., new partners will be added to the HYCU program to fill holes in regions and vertical markets, says Junelle Swan, vice president of channels for HYCU.

“We’re going to surgically recruit to fill gaps,” says Swan.

HYCU already has 150 channel partners focused on delivering data protection software for one of the fastest growing platforms in the data center. The HYCU data protection software can be used alongside both the virtual machine software developed by Nutanix, as well as instances of VMware virtual machines that Nutanix supports.

Margins for selling HYCU data protection software for channel partners can reach as high as 30 percent, says Swan.

As part of the launch of the global channel program, HYCU is now providing deal registration and sales enablement and marketing tools via an online portal. Partners can receive software for internal use and inclusion in a forthcoming partner locator. The Premier Partner Level is intended for Partners that commit to generating $50,000 of HYCU products and support revenue annually. In return for joining the HYCU program at that level partners receive additional margins as well as access to market development funds.

HYCU is also making available a Global Solution Provider Level extension to the Premier level for partners that operate in multiple countries.

Competition across the HCI platform category is already fierce, so channel partners that can bundle software with the core platform naturally gain a little more pricing flexibility to win deals. The challenge HYCU faces when it comes to data protection is that there are many well-entrenched competitors making a case for cross-platform approaches to data protection. The ideal partner for HYCU is one that’s already committed to the Nutanix platform at the expense of almost all others.
