Netlify this week launched a technology partner program through which it is allying with other vendors to advance adoption of an application development platform based on JavaScript, application programming interfaces (APIs) and a markup language, also known as JAMstack.
In addition, the company has launched a showcase through which it will promote applications developed by partners along with approved integrations and resources supplied by partners.
The technology partner program complements an existing Netlify Agency Partner Program that was launched earlier this year, says Sarfaraz Rydhan, director of global partners at Netlify.
Companies that are already Netlify technology partners include Algolia, Auth0, Contentful, GraphCMS, Kentico Kontent, Magnolia CMS, Prismic, Sentry, Snyk, Storyblok and Uniform.
The technology partner program is intended to advance an effort to make it simpler for partners to build the front end of applications that can then be easily integrated with multiple backends using APIs. That approach allows the front end of those applications to be updated more frequently without having to also update the backend of an application.
It also makes it easier for partners to switch out the backend of applications with minimal disruption to the end user experience.
“It allows partners to take a design first approach to building applications,” says Rydhan.
The launch of technology partner program comes on the heels of the company making available a framework for building plug-ins for its namesake application development platform. That framework makes it easier to extend the Netlify development platform.
There is, of course, not shortage of options when it comes to building front ends for applications. However, Netlify notes there are already more than 1.3 million developers participating in the JAMstack ecosystem. That pool of developers should make it a lot simpler for partners to hire and retain developers to build almost any class of application their end customers might want.
