Cynet Adds MSSP Program

Cynet, a provider of a breach detection, response and monitoring platform, today launched a partner program specifically for managed security service providers (MSSPs).

Beyond the traditional incentives and sales and marketing collateral provide to partners, the Cynet Global MSSP Partner Program gives partners access to a 24\7 security team that provides full onboarding and training for the partner’s staff, says Yiftach Keshet, director of product marketing for Cynet.

The Cynet 360 platform makes it simpler to provide alert monitoring, threat hunting and attack investigation using IT generalists versus having to hire highly skilled cybersecurity professionals, says Keshet. The core platform provides anti-virus software, deception and endpoint detection and response (EDR) tools alongside network traffic analytics and user behavior analysis (UBA). It can also be employed to remediate infected hosts, malicious files, compromised user accounts and segment unsafe network traffic.

The goal is to make it simpler for partners to develop a managed security service leveraging a security operations center (SOC) manned by Cynet personnel at a time when cybersecurity expertise is in short supply, says Keshet.

The goal is to make it simpler to get started by making cybersecurity less intimidating, says Keshet. The biggest challenge most partners face, however, when trying to deliver managed security services is, of course, the time commitments. Managed security services require a 24/7 level of commitment on behalf of the partner, notes Keshet.

Over time, Cynet expects partners will eventually build out their own SOC environments, adds Keshet.

“We don’t expect them to rely on us forever,” says Keshet.

Cynet already has a traditional reseller program in place. This latest effort is designed to increase the pool of managed service providers capable of providing security services at a time when more organizations are looking to rely on external cybersecurity expertise, says Keshet.

A recent survey of 1,536 cybersecurity professionals conducted by Cynet identifies the primary cybersecurity functions organizations are looking to outsource as alert monitoring and prioritization (73%), followed by investigation of root cause and scope of impact (54%), and proactive threat hunting (43%). Only 23% said they assume full control over all cybersecurity functions within their organization. In contrast, 49% outsource alert monitoring and investigation, while 19% outsource investigations as well. Only 9%, however, outsource all aspects of cybersecurity, the survey finds.

Delivering managed security services are clearly not for the faint of heart. However, given the demand for expertise having that capability does present partners with a unique opportunity to deliver a set of managed services at a considerably higher margin than traditional IT services.
