Talend, a provider of data integration and management tools based on open source software, today appointed Christal Bemont to be its CEO in addition to naming a new chief revenue officer (CRO) and chief customer officer (CCO).
Bemont joins Talend from SAP Concur, where she served as CRO. Joining Bemont at Talend are Ann-Christel Graham as CRO and Jamie Kiser as CSO, both of which were most recently ay SAP Concur.
Mike Tuchen, the previous CEO of Talend, will remain on the company board, which is headed by Steve Singh, the former CEO of Concur.
The most immediate goal is to increase the base of customers consuming Talend’s portfolio of tools and services as part of an effort to grow revenues from $250 million today to $1 billion, says Bemont. A big part of that strategy will revolve are channel partners, notes Bemont.
“Partners are critical to everything we do,” says Bemont.
Talend currently has over 3,500 customers. The challenge is that as the way data integration and management tools are consumed in the age of the cloud, Bemont notes the role of the partners continues to evolve. As the volume of data that needs to be managed continues to exponentially grow, Bemont says it is clear demand for the tools and services Talend provides is only going to increase as end customers seek to turn all that data into an actual business asset.
In addition, Bemont notes that with the rise of microservices there will be more modules of code than ever trying to access data via a myriad of application programming interfaces (APIs).
Longer term, Bemont says there’s an opportunity for Talend to help customers not only move and manage data but also help customers make sense of it in near real-time.
Of course, competition across the data integration space is fierce. In addition, data integration is starting to converge with other classes of middleware in the age of the cloud. The challenge for Talend and rivals alike to find ways to continue to deliver value at a time when more capabilities than ever are converging together in the cloud.
