Sumo Logic this week launched a partner program that invites independent software vendors (ISVs) to deploy applications on the same cloud the company uses to deliver a Sumo Logic Continuous Intelligence Platform that provides real-time insights into application and cybersecurity events via dashboards, reports, benchmarks and data science modeling tools.
The Sumo Logic Continuous Intelligence Platform already comes with connectors to over 150 applications. Now Sumo Logic is encouraging ISVs to deploy applications on the same cloud that many of them will depend to access analytics, thereby improving latency and reducing overall costs.
ISVs already participating in the program include Armory, Aqua Security, CircleCI, CloudFlare and StackRox.
Most new applications are being built based on microservices architectures that require access to analytics to discover, monitor and manage dependencies between various modules of code. Rather than building all the analytics tools required to manage those applications, Sumo Logic is making a case for leveraging a set of analytics services it has already constructed.
Many channel partners these days are taking advantage of public clouds to build their own applications to add value. At the same time, IT organizations are looking to managed services providers (MSPs) to help them manage an increasingly diverse portfolio of custom applications that are driving digital business transformation initiatives. That creates an opportunity for MSPs to leverage the Sumo Logic platform to provide analytics to those customers, says John Coyle, vice president of business and corporate development for Sumo Logic.
“Partners need to follow the applications,” says Coyle.
It may be a while before most channel partners build and deploy their own applications. However, as more channel partners make that transition many of them are about to discover that building a modern application is comparatively easier than maintaining it.
