Tech Data Adds Encryptics to Security Portfolio

Tech Data announced today it had added Encryptics, a provider of software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform through which IT organizations can apply controls to encrypted data before and after it gets shared with multiple users, to its line card.

Encryptics achieves that goal by wrapping data in a .SAFE file format that integrates directly with Apple iOS and Android applications as well as Microsoft Outlook. Encryptics also makes available an application programming interface (API) through which the .SAFE file format can be integrated with enterprise applications.

IT organizations can not only encrypt data in transit, but they can also apply controls that limit, for example, the number of times that data can be viewed, says Alex Ryals, vice president for security solutions in North America for Tech Data.

“They call it sunsetting data,” says Ryals.

Are you struggling to execute the mechanics of your channel strategy?

If so, check out Channel Mechanics, they offer a complete line of SaaS solutions to manage all aspects of your channel. Demos, NFRS, MDF, Promotions, Partner Leveling… they have over 20 specific solutions to help you get the most out of your partner ecosystem.

In general, Ryals says IT organizations are now including support for encryption as a standard requirement for almost every IT solution as privacy regulations put in place by governments ranging from The European Union to the State of California are more aggressively enforced. Many existing applications and platforms will need to be replaced to achieve compliance with those new mandates, notes Ryals.

That shift is requiring IT solutions providers to be more capable of addressing cybersecurity requirements within a larger solution, says Ryals. To arm solution providers with those capabilities Tech Data has been investing extensively in sales enablement programs specifically designed to make salespeople in the channel more capable of having a cybersecurity conversation, says Ryals.

It is increasingly clear cybersecurity is now driving a wave of application and IT infrastructure upgrades. The challenge many solutions providers face is coming up to speed on cybersecurity issues that previously were once almost exclusively the province of a dedicated cybersecurity team. The issue now is finding a way to address those concerns in a way the average end user can not only comprehend, but easily implement.
