Algolia Launches First Partner Program

As a provider of search and discovery services that are invoked via an application programming interface (API) Algolia has created a cloud service that is used by over 5,700 customers. Now Algolia has launched an Algolia Partner Program to foster the building of applications that the company plans to co-sell with partners.

Partners participating in the program include systems integrators, consulting partners, digital agencies, including Accenture Interactive – Altima, Redbox Digital, Magento, and Shopify. The goal is to provide partners with the tools needed to build, sell and market custom applications in collaboration with Algolia, says Alex Popp, director of channels and alliances for Algolia.

Following this effort Algolia also expects to follow up with a referral and reseller programs as well, says Popp.

“This is our first partner program,” says Popp.

Algolia earlier this year acquired SeaUrchin.io as part of a plan to embed analytics alongside search results within applications. Collectively, those tools can be employed to provide a richer end-user experience without having to invest extra custom programmers. All the services required to provide a rich search experience are a simple API call away, says Popp.

Going forward, Popp says, Algolia plans to infuse those search results with machine learning algorithms capable of driving higher levels of personalization by connecting content with intent.

Via initiatives such the Algolia Partner Program it’s apparent the API Economy is now formally extending its reach into the channel via actual program initiatives. Solution providers have increasingly been taking advantage of APIs to build all kinds of solutions. But the number of vendors that will commit to co-selling those solutions has been limited to a small number of companies that include, for example, Microsoft and SAP.

The opportunity for the channel now is to create a much broader range of channel programs that rewards partners for employing APIs to create their own intellectual property on top of a well-defined set of APIs.
