Todyl Launches Channel Program for SD-WAN Service

Todyl, a provider of a secure software-defined wide area network (SD-WAN) service, has launched a channel program and named Darrin Swan to lead it.

The company is recruiting managed service providers (MSPs) that would prefer to leverage an existing SD-WAN service already installed in point of presence around the globe rather than make the capital investments that would be required to build on themselves.

Dubbed the Secure Global Network Cloud Platform, the Todyl service provides organizations a simpler alternative to providing remote access in a matter of minutes at a time when most employees are working from home to help combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Rather than backhaul network traffic from cloud applications through local data centers, SD-WANs will route traffic more efficiently to and from a remote user based on whether the application they are trying to access resides in the cloud or in an on-premises IT environment.

Todyl as part of its SD-WAN service also includes a zero-trust security framework that includes a secure web gateway, virtual private networks (VPNs), secure Domain Name Servers, content filtering, intrusion detection and prevention platforms required to secure those network connections. The end goal is to make secure networks more accessible, says Swan.

“Security should be accessible to all,” says Swan.

Previously, Swan built the MSP channel for Quest Software and led the Global Service Provider Program at Dell. Obviously, many MSPs have been providing SD-WAN services for several years. However, there are other MSPs that prefer to focus their efforts on application services. The Secure Global Network Cloud Platform from Todyl is just a means to achieve that larger end.

As SD-WANs are delivered more as a service rather than as a set of physical appliances that need to be deployed and maintained by an IT team the way networking is managed is being transformed. At a time when most internal IT teams are also working from home, the number of IT professionals that can be dispatched to set up an SD-WAN has declined. As such, more organizations now consider SD-WAN networking services to be their preferred default option
