Igneous Expands Scope of Channel Initiatives

Igneous, a provider of data management and protection software for file-based storage delivered as a service, announced this week that the company is expanding its investments in the channel by adding sales enablement tools along with increased sales incentives and market development funds (MDF).

In addition, Igneous announced it is making available a DataDiscover tool that enables channel partners to assess a customer’s data residing in a network-attached storage (NAS) system and that it has added a free TestDrive service that partners can leverage to drive sales.

Finally, Igneous also revealed that it has contracted long-time channel veteran Leonard Iventosch as Chief Channel Advisor. Iventosch will work with Jim Choumas, who became vice president of channel sales for Igneous earlier this year.

Igneous provides a set of services to not only manage and protect that data but also move data by invoking application programming interfaces that Igneous exposes, says Choumas. Interest in data mobility as a service is on the rise as organizations look for ways to accelerate the process of moving data into the cloud.

If so, check out Channel Mechanics, they offer a complete line of SaaS solutions to manage all aspects of your channel. Demos, NFRS, MDF, Promotions, Partner Leveling… they have over 20 specific solutions to help you get the most out of your partner ecosystem.

Despite the proliferation of types of storage, Choumas notes the vast majority of storage in most organizations is unstructured data residing in files.

“Ninety percent of all data is still file data,” says Choumas.

The latest updates the Igneous channel program at extensions to a program that was first launched late last year. Igneous software is designed to capture all the metadata in an environment to make it simple to both backup and archive petabytes of data in a cloud service. While channel partners have a long history of providing storage and data protection services, not nearly as many have built practices around data management. Igneous enables partners to build a data management practice without necessarily having to invest in a lot of IT infrastructure.

As the amount of data that organizations need to manage continues to exponentially increase, demand for data management expertise is certainly on the rise. The challenge and opportunity for partners is to find the most efficient means of managing it all.
