DFLabs Enhances SOAR Platform for MSPs

DFLabs is looking to make it simpler to managed services providers (MSPs) to leverage an automation platform to more efficiently manage a range of security products and services across multiple customer locations.

The goal is to provide access to a multi-tenant security orchestration, automation and response (SOAR) platform that eliminates the need for MSPs to build and support their own SOAR platform, says DFLabs CEO Dario Forte.

The DFLabs IncMan SOAR platform now includes the ability to employ vendor-agnostic Runbook capability that enables MSPs to execute a single action such as blocking a malicious IP address across any number of client technologies such as blocking a malicious IP address.

In addition, analytics tools have been enhanced to make it possible to query a firewall regardless of how many different underlying technologies may be involved, adds Forte. IncMan SOAR also automates the collection and reporting of metrics and key performance indicators (KPI) across one or more environments, says Forte.

Citing research compiled by MarketsandMarkets, DFLabs said it expects the global managed security services market to reach $47.65 Billion by 2023, representing a 15 percent compound annual growth rate from $20.1 billion in 2017.

MSP that want to tap into that market, however, will need to rely on increased levels of automation at a time when cybersecurity expertise is on short supply. The challenge they will face if they build their own platform is first embedding that level of automation into a home-grown platform and then maintaining it.

“An in-house developed application doesn’t tend to have a lot of automation,” says Forte.

Proving managed security services represents a significant challenge for many channel partners. On the one hand, providing managed security services requires a 24/7 commitment that is not for the faint of heart. On the other hand, many customers are increasingly requiring channel partners to address cybersecurity issues as part of any IT project they fund. In many cases, that requirement is driving solution providers to partner with MSPs that specialize in cybersecurity.

Regardless of how cybersecurity services are delivered, however, one way or another reliance on some form of automation for delivering cybersecurity services is now a prerequisite.
